About Dominion University

We have a long history of development and change. This University was established in 1896, incorporated in 1904, reorganized in 1980 and in 2000 reorganized to its current academic structure. This University reorganized its administrative system in 2013. Educational and administrative units within the University include the College of Oratory and Music, the Frank S. Fox School of Journalism and the School of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences. The latter has entered into an agreement of partnership with Breakthrough Counseling Training, and utilizes the curriculum of The Ohio State University. Dominion University promotes higher education in all departments of learning and knowledge, and especially in those branches usually comprehended in Academic, Collegiate, University and Christocentric courses. Departments connected with this school operate out of Ohio, Virginia, Utah and the multinational enterprise. Courses may be taken residential, online or a hybrid of both. We offer a variety of ways for you to take courses so you can find the option that works best with your schedule. Online, residential, on-campus in the evening, at a scheduled time weekly or a bit more self-paced through the semester.   The Hybrid On-Campus and Online Education (HOCOE) department offers courses online with mandatory on-campus classes at DU or a DU approved facility or school.

Hybrid Education

Dominion University is especially recognized for it's unique brand of hybrid education consisting of extensive online coursework combined with residential courses. Students are no longer required to travel to campus on a regular basis in order to attend courses because much of the coursework can be completed on the Internet.

If you’re further along in your journey, DU offers master’s programs and doctoral programs. The social and behavioral sciences division of the DU School of Psychology and Behavioral Science has much to offer students interested in understanding behavior from an individual perspective to one focused on communities and institutions. True to DU’s mission, students are called to extend their learning to promote the common good and justice in the wider community through ample field work, research, internships, and study abroad opportunities.

Dominion University is accredited through the Association of Independent Schools and Colleges. This is an independent Christian accreditation entity. DU holds to the highest academic standards in the development and delivery of its curriculum. Dominion University’s programs are academically sound, and clinically excellent.
